What is the difference between Broad, Exact and Phrase Search Key (Keywords)


Here I would like to tell you that the several types of keywords are matching options determine in which Google searches can trigger your ads to appear. All these options can help you control who sees your ads.

You can set every search-targeted keywords to have one of those some kind of settings. To use a search term (keyword) matching option, just add the appropriate punctuation to your keyword. So we are going to share some these search term (keywords), these search terms (keywords) are basically four types:

1. Broad Match:
This is the default option. If your ad group contained the keyword 'tennis shoes,' your ad would be eligible to appear when a user's search term contained either or both words ('tennis' and 'shoes') in any order, and possibly along with other terms. Your ads could also show for singular/plural forms, synonyms, and other relevant variations. Example:

Ads May appear on searches for:-
Powerpoint
Templates
Powerpoint Templates Slides
Powerpoint Backgrounds Templates
Business Powerpoint Templates

2. Phrase Match:
If you enter your keyword in quotation marks, as in "tennis shoes," your ad would be eligible to appear when a user searches on the phrase tennis shoes, with the words in that order. It can also appear for searches that contain other terms as long as it includes the exact phrase you've specified.  Example:

Phrase Match Search Terms(Keywords):-

Ads May appear on searches for:-
ppt templates
ppt templates slides
Education ppt templates

Ads wouldn't appear on searches for:-
ppt education templates
education ppt
education templates slides

3. Exact Match
If you surround your keywords in brackets -- such as [tennis shoes] -- your ad would be eligible to appear when a user searches for the specific phrase 'tennis shoes,' in this order, and without any other words in the search term.  Example:

 Exact Match Search Terms(Keywords)
[PPT Search Engines]

Ads May appear on searches for:-

Ads wouldn't appear on searches for:-
Powerpoint Search Engines
Search Engines for Templates
Business Search Engines

4. Negative Match
If your keyword is 'tennis shoes' and you add the negative keyword '-used,' your ad will not appear for any searches that contain the word 'used.'

Ads wouldn't appear on searches for:-
Medical Pwerpoint Templates Slides
